SmartLouvre Technology is the sole, global manufacturer of MicroLouvre Koolshade® metal fabric.

The fabric was invented by two senior research members of Dow Chemical and first manufactured in conjunction with the Borg-Warner Corporation.

This unique and special fabric has two core functions:

Stopping the heat of the sun and providing solar shading for buildings
Accessorising Lighting Units to control and conceal light, manage glare, and protect dark night skies.

Our core business lies in the manufacture of a totally unique, tried and tested high-performance microlouvred metal fabric. Used for heat blocking and glare reduction it creates better working and living environments for people in commercial, public, and residential buildings.

Andrew Cooper

Managing Director

Andrew is the 5th Generation of his family in the solar shading industry, with nearly 50 years experience. Having spent 25 years in the associated business of Fire and Smoke containment blinds and curtains, building the world leading Coopers Fire Ltd, Andrew has now returned to his roots by bringing the weaving machines for producing MicroLouvre Koolshade®, previously known as Koolshade, over to the UK.
